Stylish and Affordable Activewear
After spending weeks walking the streets of NYC (which you probably know is one of my most favourite cities!) in the Summer heat & humidity, it was nice to spend some time in my own backyard enjoying the gorgeous trails, fresh air, and views from the Sea to Sky Gondola. If you haven't been up there yet, add it to your to-do list.
Here I am overlooking the town where I grew up, Squamish, which has grown so much these past years. For the wander around the trails, I opted to wear these new activewear pieces I picked up at Uniqlo in New York. The pants and top were each $14.99 (USD) and are very soft, breathable and comfortable. The pants are high waisted which is an added bonus. These new purchases got me thinking about all the affordable and stylish options out there at the moment in the realm of Activewear. I popped on-line and put together a catalog of some picks currently in stores that caught my eye.
Those of you who know me well, may be surprised that I have curated this particular catalog, as Activewear doesn't usually top my radar when I am shopping. However, so many brands are offering well-priced, stylish and comfortable options - it helps moderately active people like myself get a little more excited to kit up, get out and get moving!
The items selected were with the intention of activities such as: walking (or maybe some light jogging - or what I do...kind of a shuffle!), barre fitness, yoga, dance class etc. Most of these pieces have some style element in the colour or print, so they can elevate the look if you are going to throw them on and zip out to do some quick errands.
I've selected garments from Uniqlo, Joe Fresh, Old Navy and the Gap all which are available here in Canada and are incredibly well priced. If you find pieces you like from the Gap or Old Navy, be sure to wait until they offer a discount as they do this frequently (usually around 40%) and shopping online with these companies is a breeze.
I started the year with the goal of increasing my cardio. I have to admit I haven't been very consistent in that. But, I thoroughly enjoyed the daily long distance walking in NYC and plan to keep my steps and heart rate up going forward. I absolutely love barre classes, and now that my chiropractor seems to have stabilized the little tweaks I was experiencing in my back, I plan to get back into a more regular rotation in the Fall. Excited that there are some options available to refresh my active wear wardrobe without breaking the bank.
You can view my catalog here.
My Sea to Sky walk the other day was with my dad. We were having so much fun we did our favourite trail twice (which was good because it helped partially walk off the hot dog and fries we had up there for lunch...).
I hope you are having a fabulous Summer so far, getting out and about doing all the activities you love!
