Shop Canada - Accessory edition

In this third part of my "Shop Canada" series, I wanted to share some of my favourite accessory brands - there are so many to choose from and many more beyond these five that I've selected to hi-light here. I'd love to know your favourites!

I've opened with this image because in it I am wearing my mirror earrings from Canadian Indigenous designer Warren Steven Scott who is one of the fabulous creatives I am sharing below.

5 Canadian accessory brands to have on your radar:

Something in the above roundup catch your eye? All products are linked here.

Scott is originally from White Rock, BC but is now based in Toronto. Scott’s approach to design embraces a modern image of fashion through an Indigenous lens. I particularly love the necklaces and earrings which come in either metallic or a wide range of bright colour. You can go maximalist in a larger size for a real impact or wear the small to medium size as I have as shown in my pair of mirrored silver earrings. Note: if mismatched isn't your style, there are matching sets of the earrings in a range of design. So many of my friends and clients love this brand!

This Canadian brand makes bags/purses in so many fun colours and styles. I have one from their neoprene woven collection, but they also have quilted and other fabrications in a range of solids and patterns. They have bags to take you on your everyday errands, a night out and even to and from Pickleball. Here are a few words from the website "Our bags are also a great way to show off your own personal style.  Whether it's a pop of bright colour on a belt bag, or a beautifully balanced neutral tote that will go with everything in your closet, we're always introducing new designs and patterns to make sure you can find a bag that's totally "you".

Jenny Bird has been a Canadian favourite for quite a while and can often be found in many independent boutiques. This brand makes beautiful classic, statement pieces with a twist. A quote from Vogue about this designer sums it up well “One of our go-to’s for beautiful, chunky metals and sleek shapes. Perfect for any occasion and will surely turn heads.”

4: Mejuri:

This brand has become a fan favourite among so many people. Mejuri defines its mission is to make fine jewelry part of everyday life. We should actually wear the pieces we invest in! While this line does have some pricier pieces, they do have entry levels across a range of price-points and beautiful, timeless pieces that would suit so many style personalities.

My newest jewelry obsession is the mix and match stackable bracelets from Toronto designer, Lisa Gozlan - a modern version of the charm bracelet. A store recently opened up in Vancouver. The website describes the brand philosophy: "Jewelry is an extension of your wardrobe and of your personality, Lisa curated her collection to mimic the same feeling she gets putting together a look. Mix it, layer it, wear it every day." The brand carries all forms of jewelry, but it's the bracelets that have caught my eye. Great for gift ideas (either asking for yourself or gifting to loved ones).

My Lisa Gozlan stack is growing. I love them all together, but often will wear just one or a few depending on my mood or outfit.

Next time you feel you need to add an accessory to your wardrobe, you can be confident knowing there are so many Canadian designers out there to choose from! Great for yourself or to gift to others. Never forget the power of accessories to add personality and interest to an outfit. If you find ones you love, they will be sure to earn their cost-per-wear over time.
